Palm Ares pIqaD javascript library

by Chris on Aug.23, 2010, under Ares, Computers, Klingon, Linux, Technology, tlhIngan Hol, webOS

Do you develop apps for webOS using Ares?

Do you wish you could easily switch tlhIngan Hol text to pIqaD?

Then download this simple javascript library that allows you to easily convert romanized tlhIngan Hol to pIqaD.

Simply copy the included javascript file to the root of your Palm Ares app. Then add a line to sources.json that tells the app to load the file. Once the file is installed you can easily create a new copy of the pIqaDClass and start converting:

this.pIqaD = new pIqaDClass();
str = “tlhIngan Hol”;
pIqaDstr = this.pIqaD.convert(str);

webOS pIqad keyboard and font installer

by Chris on Aug.19, 2010, under Blogging

I’ve put together a package that installs both pIqaD (Klingon writing) fonts and a patch to enable a new layout for the physical keyboard. With this you can read and type pIqaD in nearly any webOS application (not sure about games).

To activate the keyboard, just double tap the notification area (where the flashing white light is). A little red square with tlh will show when the keyboard is active.

You’ll need to install it via webOSQuickInstall for now; I’ll figure out how to get it into Preware soon. A backup is made of the current fonts and mojo.js. They are restored if the package is removed.

Thanks go out to naHQun for getting the keyboard working. SuvwI’ teH ghaH!

You can download the ipk here!

by Chris on Apr.16, 2010, under Blogging, Klingon, Trek, tlhIngan Hol

Looking to show off your true Klingon nature? Then head over to my new shirt store at http://lungqij.spreadshirt.com/.

There are many different designs and I’m adding more all the time. If you don’t see anything you like, feel free to request custom shirts. As long as they have pIqaD on them, I’ll make them!

tlhIngan mu’ghom 1.1.0 for webOS

by Chris on Mar.23, 2010, under Blogging

tlhinganmughom_2010-23-03_104221My first webOS app, tlhIngan mu’ghom, is now listed in the Palm app store.

The app has a searchable Klingon-English/English-Klingon dictionary (with pIqaD), lookup tables for all the Klingon prefixes and suffixes, phrases to help you converse and some streaming audio to help train your ear.

In the future I’m going to add more phrases and, hopefully, some features to help learn Klingon words.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for things to add to the app, just comment on my blog or hit me up on twitter @qurgh.

qa’ QaQ ‘ay’ (Angel’s Share) – Klingon Manga Scanlation

by Chris on Mar.02, 2010, under Blogging

Angel's_Share_pg03I’ve decided to translate some manga scanlations into Klingon. I’m going to try and do a few each month, if possible. If you have suggestions for Klingon manga, feel free to let me know.

The first manga I have translated is a tale about a man between worlds. It’s a short eight page story. It’s available in both romanized Klingon and pIqaD. Just click to download the version you want to read:

Romanized qa’ QaQ ‘ay’

pIqaD qa’ QaQ ‘ay’
